33 Weeks!

June 19 – June 25, 2012

 How far along? 33 weeks

How are you measuring? Guessing that I am still measuring a week behind since that what I measured at my last doctor’s appointment.

Size of baby? The baby is measuring 17 inches and 4.25 pounds! He is roughly the size of a pineapple!

Baby Development This Week? His skeleton is hardening except for the bones in his skull.  He is also starting to gain a half a pound per week for the rest of the pregnancy – eek!

Heartbeat? 152 at the doctor’s appointment on June 14th.

Total weight gain/loss?  I am again not sure about this!  Based upon my morning weights compared to June 19th and this morning, it doesn’t look like I gained any weight.  My weight has definitely fluctuated during the week and I think I maybe gained 1-2 pounds.  I will have a more accurate weight after my appointment Thursday, June 28th.

Maternity clothes? Yes with a few regular maxi dresses that I have still been able to wear!!!

Stretch marks? Not yet!  I am hoping my luck will continue through the rest of the pregnancy.  Only time will tell!

Sleep? I had 1-2 nights this week where I felt like I couldn’t get comfortable, but overall, sleep hasn’t been terrible.  I had a couple of weird dreams this week and I am still having to get up 3 and sometimes 4 times a night to use the restroom.

Best moment this week? A weekend at home with B and a wedding on Saturday for one of our couple friends!  It was a nice, small and intimate wedding in someone’s home.  It was really nice!  It was nice to sleep in and get our household chores done at our own pace instead of rushing around.

Movement? Yep!  The movements mostly now are turning and poking.  I can definitely feel he is starting to run out of room, but he moves a lot during the day!

Food cravings?  I don’t know that this was a food craving, but I am sure it will be now – I had my first watermelon of the summer and it is so good!  I bought it yesterday (Sunday and I have almost finished a half of it by myself, because B doesn’t like watermelon!!

Gender predictions? Still a baby boy – Lennox Allen!

What I miss: I know I have said this before, but I am really missing my energy level this week.  We have had some major heat the last few days and it has really zapped me.

What I'm looking forward to: I have a baby shower Saturday given by my sweet mother in law and sister in law and other special ladies.  We will also be going to Texas soon for my brother’s wedding!  Lots of exciting things coming up!

How are you feeling? I’m feeling great!  Feeling bigger and bigger each day, but I feel pretty good!

Symptoms: I really haven’t had any new symptoms this week.  Still struggle with restless leg at least one night of the week.  I have woke up during the night on a couple of occasions with small cramps in my calves.  I wouldn’t say they weren’t a full blown Charlie horse, but it was definitely a small cramp

32 Weeks

June 12 – June 18, 2012

How far along? 32 weeks

How are you measuring? I’m only measuring 1 week behind (31 weeks) now based on my doctor’s appointment this week.

Size of baby? The baby is measuring 16.7 inches and 3.75 pounds! He is roughly the size of a large jicama – whatever that is!

Baby Development This Week? He is plumping up and gaining weight this week and running out of room!  He is also shedding the layer of soft lanugo hair on his body.

Heartbeat? 152 at the doctor’s appointment on June 14th.

Total weight gain/loss?  My official weight gain at the doctor’s office June 14th was 15 pounds more than my pre-pregnancy weight.  I am thinking that I may have gained another pound since my appointment though – I’m feeling pretty large!

Maternity clothes? Yes!
Stretch marks? Not yet!

Sleep? Still sleeping good and I am so thankful for that!

Best moment this week? I was able to fly to Texas for my cousin Rhonda’s wedding celebration reception and my future sister-in-laws bachelorette party for the weekend!  It was so great seeing family and celebrating these special events! Rhonda is expecting a little girl in October, and it is so fun to be going through pregnancy with her!  I am also way excited about Lisa finally officially being my sister in law!  I love family time!

Movement? Still moving and grooving!  I can’t really tell that his movements have decreased due to him running out of room.  It is funny to be sitting at work sometimes and see my belly jumping.

Food cravings?  Snow cones!!  I know this has been a repetitive answer, but I was able to get a Bahama Bucks snow cone while I was in Texas and it was heaven!!!!

Gender predictions? Still a baby boy – Lennox Allen!

What I miss: The only thing I can think to put for this question this week is my husband.  He wasn’t able to be with me in Texas over the weekend and I was sad about it!  He has really stepped it up the last few weeks since I have been pregnant and since he is on summer break.  He has cooked dinner during the week and helped to pick up the house.  I am so blessed that he will help me with these things without me even asking!

What I'm looking forward to: I am looking forward to the next three weekends of business!  Our friends Natalie and Matt are getting married this Saturday, I have a baby shower the next Saturday, and then it is wedding time for my brother and his fiancé!  We are going to be super busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How are you feeling? I’m feeling great!  The heat is sometimes exhausting, but I really can’t complain!  I am not to the uncomfortable stage of pregnancy yet!

Symptoms: Still out of breath some and suffering from restless leg syndrome.  It is getting more uncomfortable to travel in the car, so our trip to Texas should be full of plenty of stops in a few weeks!

9th Doctor's Appointment - 32 Weeks

June 14th Doctor’s Appointment

Thursday, June 14th, I had my 32 week doctor’s appointment!  It was a pretty uneventful appointment and went smoothly.  I did the typical urine sample, weigh-in, check baby heartbeat, and quick chat with my doctor.  I had gained an additional 2 pounds, making my total weight gain 15 pounds.  Lennox’s heart rate was 152.  The nurse said she must have made him mad trying to find his heart rate since it was higher than his heart rate had been.  My doctor came in and talked with me a little about my birth plan – mainly wanting to know if I planned on having an epidural (which I do).  I scheduled my next appointment for exactly two weeks after – June 28th.  I know I keep saying it, but I just really can’t believe how close we are to meeting our son!

31 Weeks

June 5 – June 11, 2012

How far along? 31 weeks

How are you measuring? 28 weeks based on my belly measurement at my last doctor’s appointment.  I have a feeling my belly has grown since my last doctor’s appointment, but I won’t know the official measurement until Thursday.

Size of baby? The baby is measuring 16.25 inches and 3.3 pounds! - the size of four naval oranges.

Baby Development This Week? The baby is continuing to have major brain and nerve development.  His irises can now react to light.  All 5 of his senses are now in working order!!!

Heartbeat? 139 at the doctor’s appointment on June 1.

Total weight gain/loss?  I had gained 13 pounds at my last doctor’s appointment, and I believe I gained another pound this week – so I’m thinking total 14 pounds.  I will know for sure on Thursday!

Maternity clothes? Yes!

Stretch marks? No signs yet!

Sleep? Overall, my sleep is ok.  I had a couple nights last week where I tossed and turned a little bit, but I am still not going to complain about it because I know it could be much worse!

Best moment this week? I had a couple GREAT moments this week!  Friday my work threw me my first baby shower!  Some of my sweet co-workers and awesome volunteers attended.  Lennox received some pretty neat things and my co-workers gave us money to purchase our infant travel system!  On Saturday, Barrett and I attended a “From Pregnancy to Parenthood” class at the hospital where I will be delivering.  I am going to try and blog about the class in a separate post!

Movement? Still moving a ton!  I love seeing Barrett face light up and him laugh when Lennox “punches” and kicks me.  Sometimes it really isn’t comfortable, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Food cravings?  Sweets – especially yogurt and snow cones!

Gender predictions? Baby Boy – Lennox Allen!

What I miss: I am a big snuggler – B and I both are.  Here lately my belly is just too big for us to snuggle!

What I'm looking forward to: The next few weekends are jam packed with fun things that I am looking forward to.  This weekend I am headed to Texas for a wedding celebration for my cousin and a bachelorette party for my future sister in law.  It is actually my last weekend that the airlines will allow me to fly, so I am taking advantage!

How are you feeling? Feeling good – just big!

Symptoms? My newest pregnancy system has been a little back pain.  Again, nothing major, but towards the end of the day my back starts hurting some.  I am still having restless leg and bathroom problems every now and then, but everything is very manageable.

From Pregnancy to Parenthood Class

From Pregnancy to Parenthood Class

Saturday, June 9, Barrett and I attended a “From Pregnancy to Parenthood” class at the hospital where I will be delivering.  The class was all day – 8:15 – 4:30.  We really didn’t know what to expect with the class.  I know that I was more excited about going to the class than Barrett was, but he was such a trooper and didn’t complaint about it!  I was shocked that there were so many couples in our class – 12 total!  Everyone was married and expecting their first child!  Another thing that was interesting is that about 9 of the 12 couples were 31 weeks pregnant!  The morning started out with discussing a few things about pregnancy and moved into everything labor and delivery.  Before we took a lunch break we took a tour of the labor and delivery unit where I will be having Lennox!  I have to say that was my favorite part of the class.  It was great seeing the hospital and feeling comfortable with the decision I made.  Barrett and I went to eat at Chipotle and it was so yummy!  When we made it back to the class we learned about care after the baby, caring for the baby at home, and finally breastfeeding!  B was also able to change his first ever diaper!  Overall we really enjoyed the class and learned a lot.  I think it was truly a great experience for us to go through together.   We joked all the way home that we thought we were “certified” now to be parents!  We even received a certificate that we completed the class to make it official! J

Work Baby Shower!

Friday, June 8, my co-workers had a baby shower for me!  I also work with a great group of volunteers and several came to attend the shower!  It was such a fun time!

We played the “guess the baby food” game and also took a quiz about babies.

After playing games we ate snacks and I opened gifts.
My co-workers went in together and gave us money to purchase our infant travel system!  I also received some great baby clothes, items off of our registry, and other great goodies!
It was so sweet for my co-workers to think of me and celebrate little man’s arrival.  I feel truly blessed and work with some great people and volunteers!

30 Weeks

May 29 – June 4, 2012

 How far along? 30 weeks

How are you measuring? 27 weeks based on my belly measurement at my doctor’s appointment on June 1.  My belly is measuring 3 weeks behind, but Lennox is measuring right on track!

Size of baby? The baby is measuring  inches and 3.11 pounds! – The weight is the actual weight the ultrasound tech told me during the ultrasound I had while at the doctor.  He is roughly the size of a cabbage.

Baby Development This Week? His skin is getting smoother, and his brain is getting more  wrinkled to make way for essential brain tissue.  He is also strong enough this week to grasp a finger.

Heartbeat? 139 at the doctor’s appointment on June 1st.

Total weight gain/loss?  My official weight gain at the doctor’s office June 1 was 13 pounds more than my pre-pregnancy weight.  This means I gained 3 pounds since my last appointment 3 weeks ago!  Whoo hoo for weight gain!

Maternity clothes? Yes – with some regular dresses.

Stretch marks? Not yet!

Sleep? I have been really lucky because sleep has been pretty easy so far.  I am wondering when I will start the tossing and turning that I hear occurs later in the 3rd trimester, but for now I’m enjoying my sleep!

Best moment this week? We had a fun/lazy weekend that included a couple’s shower for some of our friends getting married later this month.  I am really savoring every moment I have with B while it is still just the two of us!

Movement? Yes!  He moves so much now! B has really enjoyed watching him “punch” my pretty hard when we are laying in bed.  I love seeing how shocked B is with how stronger his little boy is getting!

Food cravings?  Still craving snow cones!  I think we had 4 snow cones this week alone!  I’m so glad B likes them as much as I do!

Gender predictions? Baby Boy Lennox!

What I miss: I haven’t missed anything in particular this week.

What I'm looking forward to: We are attending our all day child birth class this weekend.  I am excited to learn about the whole birthing process among other things.  I am also excited to experience it with B!

How are you feeling? I have felt so much better this week!  Sometimes I get the “I feel huge” feeling and other times I look at my belly and think “I really don’t look THAT big”.  Haha – pregnancy is too funny!

Symptoms: I have noticed I have been much more out of breath at different times this week.  It is weird because I don’t have to be walking when it hits me – I can just be standing and talking and I feel like I’ve been jogging!  I am still a little bit more tired than in past months, but that could also be attributed to the fact that we seem to stay up later at night now that B is out of school for the summer.

8th Doctor's Appointment - 30 weeks

Today was my 30 week doctor’s appointment!  I really cannot believe I am already 30 weeks!  Only 10 more weeks until little man’s due date!  It was a normal appointment of giving a urine sample, being weighed, and seeing the doctor for little man’s heart rate and getting my belly measurement.
I had gained 3 pounds since my last appointment 3 weeks ago, making my total weight gain for pregnancy 13 pounds.  I was pretty happy with the weight gain since the last appointment I had actually lost a pound!
The nurse took my vitals.  My blood pressure was 110/69 and Lennox’s heart rate was 139 – both sounding healthy and normal!  My doctor quickly came in the exam room and asked about who we would be going with for a pediatrician.  Barrett and I had already talked and researched this since our last appointment, so I was proud to have an answer!  Our pediatrician will have an on call doctor who will see Lennox when he is born in the hospital.  After the doctor and I talked it was time for the belly measurement.  You may remember from the last two appointments that my belly had been measuring a week behind my due date.  Today my belly only measured 27cm which is 3 weeks behind.  (Note – your belly should measure about the same cm as how many weeks you are).  She asked me if I had time to stay for an ultrasound so that they could check and make sure the baby was growing properly and that everything looked ok with the placenta.  I was a little worried, but wasn’t going to panic.
I didn’t have to wait for the ultrasound for very long at all.  I had the same ultrasound tech that did our anatomy scan and another ultrasound I had, so I was familiar with her.  She started the ultrasound and I was completely amazed with how much he had grown since the 20 week ultrasound!  To be honest, about 80% of the time she was checking things I had no idea what we were looking at!  She looked at his heart, head, legs, stomach and tummy area, and his spine (from what I could tell).  It was such a relief to hear her say that everything looked normal!  He is already head down, which could change, but for now he is in a good position.  His heart looked good and was just beating away!  When she measured his leg bones she told me that he had really long leg bones and I have to say, I wasn’t surprised at all!  She also told me that he didn’t have any hair on his head and he weighed 3 pounds 11 ounces and was in the 58th percentile (average).  I was so happy to have a good report!
I have “graduated” from going to the doctor every three weeks, to now I have to go every 2 weeks.  My next appointment is Thursday, June 14th.   Toward the end of the pregnancy they will see me every week.  I really can’t believe how fast this whole process is going!  I will be a mommy before too long!
