Panther Volleyball

I have been able to help with Lewis County volleyball this year. It has been really fun to be around the sport again, and I really enjoy the girls. We have only lost to two teams in our district, so it has been a pretty good season. Here are a few clippings from the local newspaper, the Lewis County Herald.

Game #6

Friday was the sixth game of the season against the Wayne County Wildcats in Waynesboro. We were hoping to end their undefeated season. The weather showed that we would be sitting the ENTIRE game in rain, but luckily it rained on the way to the game and on the way home, but didn't rain a drop while we sat in the bleachers.

For blogging tradition, here is the sign for the game. I have to say this was my personal favorite of the season:

The sign says, "Breaking News, Panthers on the Prowl! Alert!"

The field was VERY messy due to all the rain, so I had to take a picture of the "slop" the players were standing in on the sideline.

The game was tied 7-7 going into halftime. The Wildcats scored a touchdown in the 3rd quarter, but missed the extra point leaving the score 13-7. During the fourth quarter, the Wildcats scored again making the score 19-7. We just could not work the ball down the field to score again, and the game ended with the score of 19-7.

Next week is Homecoming against Marshall County! Stay tuned!

Reid's Visit

Reid was able to come visit for a long weekend. We had a BLAST and really crammed a lot of fun into a short amount of time. I feel like I am still worn out, but we made lots of memories and had a great time.
Friday we visited Amber Falls Winery. Here are a couple pictures from the winery:

I have to say it was all very interesting. The time and patience to maintain a vineyard and winery amaze me.

Friday night we headed to the Panther football game in Centerville. Check out the blog entry below (Game #5) to get a quick re-cap of the game.
Saturday we rolled out of bed at 4:30am to leave the house at 5am to see the Tide play. The morning started out rainy, and we were not thrilled at the idea of sitting at a ballgame in a down pour, but the rain cleared and the sun came out! The Tide rolled all over UNT and the game was a lot of fun.

This is a picture of Denny Chimes on the Quad!

Me and Reid in front of the new addition to the stadium.
The band playing the "greatest fight song in the land"!
The players getting ready to run on the field! Our seats were pretty awesome! (Thanks to B's A-club tickets!) Roll Tide Roll! Here are two videos we shot during the game!

Sunday we were able to recover from our road trip to Tuscaloosa. We were also able to take the jet ski out between rain showers for about an hour.

I really enjoyed Reid coming to visit. I wish we would have done a better job in taking pictures! God truly blessed me with an amazing family, and I am very thankful for the close relationship I have with my "little" brother.
Love you Reid!

Game #5 - HELLO WIN COLUMN

I am disappointed that I am behind in updating on the football season, but things have been cRaZy lately! This game up date is not from last night, but the week before. We played the Hickman County Bulldogs at Centerville. This game was especially fun, because Reid was in town! Here is the sign for the game:

It says, "Black White Attack"

Reid must have been the Panther "good luck charm" because we were finally able to get the first win of the 2009 season. The final score was 27-8!
GO PANTHERS!!!!

After the game, Reid and I headed home to get ready for the Alabama vs UNT game in Tuscaloosa. We were being goofy (it was pretty late at night), so here is a picture of Reid in Barrett's football helmet!

Update and a Visitor

Whew, I finally have a little time for a quick update! We have been SUPER busy lately and I haven't had time to sit at the computer for FUN time. My classes this semester are keeping me extremely busy and stressed. I have been traveling a lot around the 13 counties I cover for work, which wears me out too. Barrett finally went back to work today after having the flu. He was one sick fellow! I can't remember the last time I have had a fever, and Barrett ran one for almost a week straight (6 days). I am so thankful that I didn't get it.

I am SUPER pumped because in less than 2 hours I will be picking my brother up from the airport. We have quite a fun filled jammed long weekend planned. I am excited to see him, because I haven't seen anyone in my family since the beginning of July! This our schedule for what we are planning on doing during his visit:

  • FRIDAY - Reid and I plan to visit a winery in Lewis County called Amber Falls. To see the Amber Falls Winery website click here! After our visit to the winery we will be going to the Lewis County football game in Hickman County against the Bulldogs.

  • SATURDAY - We will be getting up SUPER early to head to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to watch the Crimson Tide take on the UNT Mean Green. We are really excited about this game, for several reasons: 1. Reid is attending UNT working on his under-grad degree. 2. I attended Alabama for my under-grad work. 3. Now I am attending UNT (online) working on my Masters.

  • SUNDAY - (weather permitting) We are going to try to take the jet ski out for a spin!

I am sure I will have plenty of pictures and things to blog about from Reid's visit, so stay tuned!

Game #4

Last night the Panthers played the fourth game of the season at home against the Spring Hill Raiders. Here was the sign for the game:

I also shot a video of the team running out on the field:

Unfortunately, we still do not have a win this season. We were able to score the first touch down of the game, but missed a two point conversion after a penalty by Spring Hill. The score was 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. At halftime, the Raiders had the lead 14-6. From that point on we just could not catch up. The score at the end of the third quarter was 21-12, and the final score was 27-18.

I am excited about next weeks game, because Reid (my brother) will be in town visiting! The Panthers play the Hickman County bulldogs away. Hopefully Reid will bring us some Texas football luck and we will be able to pull one out!

School and the Flu Bug

Even though it has only been a few days, it has felt weird not updating. I have been super busy with my nose in text books and doing online course work. My master's program has started back up and is killing me! For those who don't know, I am working towards a masters in Long Term Care, Senior Housing, and Aging Services through the University of North Texas. This semester I am doing my internship hours (500 - through my employer), a literature review as an elective course, and taking a course on cultures and aging. The cultures and aging course is the only one that I have something due weekly. Let's just say this has been the most demanding course I have taken in the program! I am writing about 3 short papers A WEEK! I am so ready to be completely finished with school, but will have to hang in there until August!

Other Earnest news is that Barrett and I have both been sick. Barrett has been officially visited by the flu bug. I think my body is trying to fight it. I have not had a fever, but have been achy, worn out and just not feeling like myself. Hopefully we will bounce back from this fast. We are just way too busy to add sickness to our schedules! :)

Our New Toy

This is the most recent big purchase for the Earnest household:

Barrett has had the "itch" for a new toy for awhile. After a lot of research and a steal of a deal, we purchased a 2003 Yamaha WaveRunner XLT 1200. We were both really excited to take it out on the river for the first time today! Here are a few pictures of the latest addition!

Taking it to Mousetail Landing on the Tennessee River!

Barrett bringing it in! :) Trust me, we were rookies in this area!

Barrett posing with his new toy!

We don't have too many more weeks before the river will be too cold to go out, but we are going to enjoy it while we can!

Game #3

Tonight was the 3rd game of the 2009 football season. We played Page at home. Here was the sign for this weeks game:

The sign says, "Pshh..Turn the PAGE"

The game was close through the first half with the score going into halftime 13-13. The second half truly did us in, and the final score of the game was 38-13. We really struggled with tackling tonight and the other team definitely took advantage of our mistakes.

Last year was a lot different from this year, because we went 11-1. Our first loss of the season came in the second round of playoffs. I hope the guys (coaches included) don't lose heart and will continue to persevere through the rest of the season. Hopefully we will be chalking one up in the win column before too long!

Wedding Favorites

It is so hard to believe that Barrett and I have been married for over a year! I have never posted wedding pictures (besides the top picture) to my blog. Many of you have probably already seen our wedding pictures (so sorry to bore you), but I wanted to share a few of our favorites! My cousin Carmen did a FANTASTIC job on our pictures! Enjoy!
